Menopause
Transitioning into Menopause
Menopause is a whole-body, natural biological process that marks the end of a woman’s reproductive years. The average age of menopause in Australia is 51, but individual experiences vary. Perimenopause, the transition period before menopause, can last two to twelve years. This time is a crucial window of opportunity to make positive health changes that can benefit your future.
Every woman’s experience of menopause is different. What works for one person may not be effective for another. It’s essential to work with a healthcare team who can tailor a treatment plan to your specific needs and preferences. Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture can be a useful tool to support menopause
Acupuncture for Menopause
Acupuncture provides a natural therapy for Menopause which provides a non-invasive and gentle way to regulate the endocrine system, balance hormones, reduce the severity of menopausal symptoms and provide menopause relief.
Acupuncture treatment and the use of Chinese Herbal Medicine, support the body through the nourishment of the Kidney Yin, Clear Heat and Tonify the Blood and Jinye (fluids).
Whilst Acupuncture cannot completely alleviate menopausal and perimenopausal symptoms, it is effective at reducing the intensity and frequency of the physical and emotional symptoms of menopause such as:
- Hot Flushes
- Night Sweats
- Irritability
- Anxiety
- Moodiness
- Dryness
- Insomnia
- Hair Loss
The effects of acupuncture are accumulative; meaning, that in order to fully-benefit from its effects, it is recommended to receive regular acupuncture treatments to improve your quality of life through this period.
Chinese Herbal Medicine for Menopause
Specific Chinese Herbal Medicine formulas tailored to the individual patent and their underlying pattern of imbalance from a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective are also used at The Dao Health to manage symptoms of Menopause.
Depending on patient preference, Chinese Herbal Medicine treatment may be used on its own for treatment or in conjunction with Acupuncture treatment depending on the severity of symptoms.
Additional supplements for Menopause support may also be discussed in your initial consultation depending on the patient and their individual treatment plan.
Ideal natural menopause treatment
We recommend Acupuncture treatment weekly for 5-8 weeks for Menopause support and this will depend on the individual and how they respond to treatment. Chinese Herbal Medicine may also be recommended depending on the individual to support a decrease in the frequency and intensity of symptoms in addition to management.
