MENSTRUAL CYCLE HEALTH

From a young age, we are taught to avoid all things period, but it is time for that to change. The Dao Health promotes good health and enhanced life experience through the education of each patient, which enables women to expand their knowledge of their own menstrual cycle. Learning how to become familiar with your own period and associated symptoms, allows women to become aware of symptomatic patterns from emotional imbalances and moodiness to pain.

Traditional Chinese Medicine perceives the menstrual cycle as something that allows women to have a healthy period, that is both comfortable and flowing. The uniqueness of each woman is realised throughout Traditional Chinese Medicine and this is reflected in each women’s menstrual cycle. Each women’s personalised cycle should aim to be regular and optimally occur between 26 – 35 days each month. The period should turn on and off like a dripping tap, aiming for 4 – 5 days of constant flow. No discomfort, irritation and no stopping and starting.

Deepening your understanding of your own flow will enable you to appreciate and recognise why sometimes you don’t feel like talking; or why you felt like running a marathon last week but this week you don’t even feel like going to yoga.  When your cycles are regular you learn how to support your body both emotionally and physically throughout the phases of the menstrual cycle.  If your cycle is not comfortable and you don’t quite understand your own personal flow, The Dao Health provides a supporting and educational sphere in which through practitioner guidance; assist you in becoming familiar with your own body, menstrual cycle and the accompanying signs and symptoms through Acupuncture treatment, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Chinese Dietary Therapy.

MENOPAUSE

In an ideal world, the period suddenly ceases and one adjusts to a new ebb and flow of no monthly cycle. Unfortunately, this may not be the case. Due to an unlimited to-do list prompted by a shift in society, many women have worked fulltime in the home as well as at work. This constant “going” unfortunately can have detrimental effects on our well-being as we age.  Acupuncture is a beneficial treatment to support the female body through the hormonal shifts women experience through the reality of menopause.
